Prebys Play Day: Stories We Share
Based out of Conrad Prebys Learning Center and sprawling into the galleries, we invite you to celebrate Celia Álvarez Muñoz: Breaking the Binding. We are collaborating with Gente Unida, a human rights coalition dedicated to sharing stories of humanity and perseverance.
Together, we will create and experience art that highlights stories of our border region:
Art activity: Our Neighborhood
Transform hanging objects and small playhouses into a community neighborhood inspired by Muñoz’s artwork - our very own Postales (Postcard) come to life!
Art activity: Hello Neighbor!
Draw and paint on postcards that can be sent to a neighbor or friend through our special mailbox.
Schedule:
- At 10AM, explore Celia Álvarez Muñoz’s work with a kid-friendly tour of her exhibition.
- At 11AM, learn about people’s experiences in the border region with a special presentation by Gente Unida.
- At 12:30AM, listen to bilingual stories, songs, and rhymes in storytime with Ms. Katia from the La Jolla/Riford Library.
- There will also be live music by DJ Pebo, a cozy book nook, and an interactive, free play area in Jacobs Hall.
*Museum admission is free from 10AM – 4PM for all visitors, with Prebys Play Day offerings happening between 10AM – 1PM.
Los cuentos que compartimos
Acompáñanos el 11 de junio en el Día del Juego de Prebys, ¡Cuentos que compartimos! Desde el Centro de Aprendizaje Conrad Prebys y extendiéndose a las galerías, te invitamos a celebrar Celia Álvarez Muñoz: Rompiendo el cerco. El PPD de junio contará con la colaboración de Gente Unida, una coalición de derechos humanos dedicada a compartir historias de humanidad y perseverancia. Experimenta creando arte que comparte estas historias de nuestra región fronteriza.
10AM – 1PM: Nuestro Vecindario
Ayúdanos a transformar objetos colgantes y pequeñas casas de juego en un vecindario comunitario inspirado en la obra de Muñoz. Nuestros propios Postales cobran vida.
10AM – 1PM: ¡Hola Vecino!
Dibuja y pinta postales para enviar a un vecino o amigo y deposítalas en nuestro Buzón especial.
10AM – 1PM: Ven a disfrutar de la música de DJ Pebo, lee en nuestro acogedor book nook, o disfruta de una zona de juegos interactivos en Jacobs Hall.
10AM: Explora la obra de Celia Álvarez Muñoz con una visita para niños de su exposición
11AM – 11:30AM: Escucha las experiencias de la gente en la región fronteriza durante una presentación especial de Gente Unida.
A las 12:30AM: Escucha historias bilingües, canciones y rimas en la Hora del Cuento con la Sra. Katia de la Biblioteca La Jolla/ Riford.
