Bring the entire family to Free Second Sunday for our free family series, Play Day!
Join us for a light-filled art activity inspired by the Light and Space Movement and artists in MCASD’s permanent collection. Together, we will create magical, glitter paper lanterns using parchment paper, string, and cellophane, that will brighten and warm winter nights.
Art Activity: Create paper lanterns filled with colors and light.
Schedule:
- At 11AM, explore Light and Space works in MCASD’s permanent collection through a kid friendly tour.
- From 11AM-2PM, enjoy music by a local DJ, get cozy in the book nook, sketch with water, and get book recommendations from the LIbrarian on the Go.
- At 12PM and 1PM, sit and experience the soothing sounds of crystal bowls as they quiet your mind and lead you into a relaxed and introspective state.
- At 12:30PM, listen to stories, songs, and rhymes in Storytime with Librarian on the Go.
*Museum admission is free from 11AM – 5PM for all visitors, with Play Day offerings happening between 11AM – 2PM.
No RSVPs are required for Play Day admission.
About Play Day
Play Day is a monthly event at the Museum designed for families to explore art together. Activities include special tours, hands-on projects, and at-your-own-pace guides. Centered at the Conrad Prebys Learning Center and extending into the galleries and terraces, each Play Day offers new and engaging ways to experience the artworks on display.
Linternas mágicas de papel
Únete a nosotros el domingo 8 de diciembre para el Día del Juego y una actividad artística llena de luz.
Inspirados en el movimiento artístico Luz y Espacio y en los artistas de la colección permanente de MCASD, ven a crear mágicos farolillos de papel con purpurina. Usando papel pergamino, cuerda y celofán estas luces brillarán y darán calor a las noches de invierno.
- 11:00 a.m.- Explora las obras de Luz y Espacio de la colección permanente del MCASD en un recorrido para niños por las obras de arte que nos han inspirado.
- 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. crear linternas de papel llenas de colores y luz
- 11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.- Disfruta de la música de un DJ local, acurrúcate con un libro en el rincón de los libros, dibuja con agua y obtén recomendaciones de libros del Bibliotecario ambulante
- 12.00 y 13.00 h: Siéntate y experimenta los relajantes sonidos de los cuencos de cristal mientras aquietan tu mente y te conducen a un estado relajado e introspectivo.
- 12:30 p.m.: Escuche cuentos, canciones y rimas en la Hora del Cuento con la Bibliotecaria ambulante, la Sra. Katia Graham.
La entrada al museo es gratuita de 11:00 a.m. a 5:00 p.m., con ofertas del Día del Juego entre las 11:00 a.m. y las 5:00 p.m.
