Anniversary marks important leadership change at renowned institution

San Diego—On the occasion of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD)’s 75th anniversary, MCASD visionaries Dr. Hugh M. Davies, Kathryn Kanjo, Board President Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, and architect Annabelle Selldorf launched the 75th anniversary capital campaign to raise $75 million towards an expansion of the La Jolla facility, quadrupling the current gallery space.

Free weekly event welcomes guests to seaside museum

San Diego, CA—The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) is bringing back its popular summertime event series, Shore Thing, held every Thursday evening this summer at the Museum’s seaside La Jolla location. Guests are invited to enjoy free Museum admission, exhibition tours, picnicking, beer, wine, music, and more. Shore Thing kicks off June 16 and will take place from 5-8 PM every Thursday evening through September 1.

Culminating exhibition showcases year-long project with Museo Tamayo in Mexico City as part of international Museums Connect project

San Diego, CAThe Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) is proud to present FOCUS: Binational Showcase featuring multimedia artworks by 22 teens in San Diego and Mexico City that explore the impact of violence in both cultures. The exhibition will be on view from Friday, June 17 through Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the Museum’s downtown location. A public reception will be held from 2-5 PM on Saturday, June 18 to celebrate the teens’ work.

Funds raised will provide vital support for MCASD’s exhibitions and education programs

San Diego, CA—The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) will present its 40th annual benefit, Monte Carlo: Bollywood, from 6:30 PM to 1 AM on Saturday, September 10, at its La Jolla location.

Monte Carlo is an annual San Diego tradition and one of the most popular social events in the region. Serving as MCASD’s primary fundraiser, the event has raised almost $5 million in the last 15 years for MCASD’s exhibitions and education programs.
