This Spring, MCASD is looking forward to hosting two art exhibitions created through our Extended School Partnership.
Throughout the semester, MCASD Educators have visited classrooms and led tours that speak to how artists in the collection build their practice. Students learned how artists develop processes that speak to their conceptual interests, while finding inspiration and routines that sustain them.
In turn, these young artists have created works that explore their own developing relationship with art.
The San Diego School of Creative and Performing Art’s AP Art class will join the Altus Schools North Park Resource Center, Hoover High’s Advanced Art and AP Literature classes, and The Bishop’s School Studio Arts 1 & 2 classes, to showcase 183 artworks in Axline Court from April 30 – May 17.
Showcase dates are open to the public during our gallery hours: Thursday – Saturday from 11AM – 7PM and Sunday from 11AM – 5PM.
Extended School Partnership (ESP) empowers 6th – 12th-grade teachers to use the Museum as an extension of the classroom. Students and teachers engage in creative thinking and cross-disciplinary learning by integrating contemporary art into curricula and using the Museum as a learning resource.
