Support young artists at the public opening of their showcase, feature Muuyaawkeh! (You Should Know!), the Heritage Project from the Barona Charter School.
Through Extended School Partnership (ESP), MCASD Educators empower schools across San Diego to use the Museum as an extension of the classroom.
This semester, their 8th graders learned about Kumeyaay storytelling and philosophy during their culture classes. Working from Barona Cultural Center and the Museum’s newest film, Sinyohow Haawaakm ‘Aaknach (Sinyohow and the Twins), they will share 10 artworks that represent this traditional story and the knowledge it contains.
The showcase in open from May 21 – June 28 during our gallery hours: Thursday – Saturday from 11AM – 7PM and Sunday from 11AM – 5PM.
Extended School Partnership (ESP) empowers 6th – 12th-grade teachers to use the Museum as an extension of the classroom. Students and teachers engage in creative thinking and cross-disciplinary learning by integrating contemporary art into curricula and using the Museum as a learning resource.
