Carmen Argote: Filtration System for a Process-based Practice
Documentation of the making of For Florence

June 4, 2022 to October 23, 2022

Formerly On view at MCASD Downtown

Carmen Argote: Filtration System for a Process-based Practice features a recent body of work by Los Angeles-based artist Carmen Argote (b. 1981, Guadalajara, MX), much of which was completed during the pandemic. Accomplished over a five-year period, six interwoven series navigate the artist's perennial walking practice, centering around Lincoln Park in East Los Angeles. Through sculpture, drawing, voice recordings, and actions, Argote playfully galumphs over boundaries between public and private, self and world, and human and non-human animal.
