To complement MCASD's new special exhibition Alexis Smith: The American Way, the Museum and Digital Gym Cinema are partnering to present The Red Shoes (1948), which is considered to be one of the greatest films ever made and a winner of two Oscars.

Alexis Smith is widely known for working in collage, layering quotes from film and literature with movie posters, album covers, advertisements, and newspapers. She borrowed from films like “The Red Shoes" to explore stories of self-invention and success.

Join MCASD Associate Curator Anthony Graham and Digital Gym Film Curator Moisés Esparza in a discussion of the themes and inspirations of both Smith's artwork and the film.

* The talk back will go from 9:15 - 9:45 p.m.

Location:
Digital Gym Cinema
Located at UC San Diego Park & Market - 2nd floor (1100 Market St, San Diego, CA 92101)
