MCASD’s "Avant Garde Ball" is back.
Save the date, Saturday, May 2 8PM-12AM, for the return of San Diego’s ultimate, museum-wide party celebrating this year’s theme—Larger Than Life.
Chaired by MCASD Trustee Lorenza Fabre Vega and Bruno Meli, the Ball is for the next generation, those who give new meaning to contemporary art, music, and fashion. The theme, Larger Than Life, means bigger, bolder, and boundary-breaking.
Please note: The Avant Garde Ball is a 21+ event.

Lorenza Fabre Vega and Bruno Meli
Lorenza Fabre Vega and Bruno Meli share a deep commitment to creativity, community, and the power of culture to bring people together. They are honored to serve as Co-Chairs of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego’s Avant Garde Ball, supporting an event that celebrates artistic innovation and the next generation of creative voices.
Lorenza is the Executive Director of the Latattore Foundation, where she focuses on building meaningful partnerships across the fields of art, education, and wellness. Her work in San Diego centers on connecting community organizations with larger institutions to create opportunities and expand access to cultural and educational resources for under-resourced communities.
Bruno is an entrepreneur and builder drawn to spaces where culture is being created in real time. His career has focused on developing ventures and creative platforms at the intersection of sport, fashion, and community, industries that shape how people express identity and connect with one another. He was part of the founding leadership team that helped launch San Diego FC, and today leads the soccer business at Fanatics, where he works on the sport’s global expansion and its commercial and cultural growth. His work centers on bringing ideas to life and building brands and experiences that live within culture, not just around it.
Together, Lorenza and Bruno are passionate about supporting the arts and the role cultural institutions play in nurturing bold ideas, emerging voices, and creative experimentation. Their involvement with MCASD reflects their shared belief that art has the power to inspire dialogue, strengthen communities, and help shape the cultural future.
