Join assistant curator Alana Hernandez and artist Felipe Baeza for a conversation on Instagram Live as part of the charlas series. The Charlas present conversations between exhibition curator Hernandez and contemporary artists where they will discuss their practice in relation to the works presented in the digital exhibition Experiments on Stone: Four Women Artists from the Tamarind Lithography Workshop.

Brooklyn-based Felipe Baeza’s practice examines themes of memory, migration, and queerness to situate fugitive bodies within the social and historical context of cultural practices. The Guanajuato, Mexico-born artist uses collage and printmaking techniques to create densely layered paintings that process his personal narrative and transport viewers through past experiences and liberatory futures both real and imagined. His work will be included in the fifth iteration of Prospect New Orleans, Yesterday we said tomorrow in the fall of 2021. Baeza earned a BFA from The Cooper Union and an MFA from Yale University.
