Extended School Partnership Program

MCASD’s Extended School Partnership Program empowers 6-12th grade teachers to use the Museum as an extension of the classroom. Through arts-based learning experiences occurring in the classroom and at the Museum, ESP can enhance teacher’s ability to incorporate original art objects into a curriculum, promoting students critical and creative thinking. The program consists of professional development for the classroom teacher, class visits to the Museum led by both the classroom teacher and MCASD Gallery Educators, in-classroom critique sessions and a culminating showcase of the partnership where students are able to exhibit their artistic and academic accomplishments at the Museum.

Each partnership’s length is unique to every school, and can be as short as a couple weeks, or as long as an academic year. Through multiple school and Museum visits by our Gallery Educators, students and teachers embrace the Museum as a learning resource. Come visit our local ESP showcases beginning this fall. Showcases will be held along the Museum’s downtown signature monthly event: Downtown at Sundown, held every third Thursday of the month, beginning in November
