Moris: Hermoso paisaje 7: Los golpes, pan duro y baños de agua fría
In his Hermoso Paisaje series, Moris creates makeshift shelters and furniture using found materials such as garbage, tarps, and cardboard. In Hermoso paisaje 7: Los golpes, pan duro y baños de agua fría [Beautiful Landscape 7: beatings, hard bread, and cold-water baths], Moris references the utilitarian recycling of societies where inhabitants are forced to reuse materials due to unsustainable growth and eroding infrastructure. Moris draws on tarps by erasing and washing away dirt and soot to reveal various cultural and architectural images.
Moris: Hermoso paisaje 7: Los golpes, pan duro y baños de agua fría is organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, with generous lead underwriting support from Paul and Geneviève Jacobs. Additional support has been provided by proceeds from the 2016 Biennial Art Auction. Institutional support of MCASD is provided by the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture and the County of San Diego Community Enhancement Fund.
