Blind Date: Ópera Ambulante

Friday, Dec 05, 2014

Join us at noon on selected Fridays between November 7 through February 6, for this series of events.

In conjunction with the exhibition Rita McBride: Public Tilt, the Museum has invited Ópera Ambulante to activate Arena (1997)—the highly celebrated and well-travelled sculpture and modular tribune. Ópera Ambulante is a flash mob-style roaming opera ensemble. The ensemble’s performance concludes with a full opera excerpt with multiple voices. Take a break from your routine and enjoy a mini opera on your lunch break.

Since its inception in 1997, Rita McBride’s Arena—the highly celebrated and well-travelled modular tribune—has hosted more than 100 artists, poets, writers, architects, musicians, curators, and politicians. In conjunction with McBride’s exhibition at MCASD Downtown, the Museum has invited a series of artists, performers, and cultural thinkers to activate Arena on the first Friday of every month for the duration of the show, under the umbrella title “Blind Date.” Take a break from your routine and step into the Museum to play a part in short presentations that promise to energize your weekend.

The fee for this event in included in Museum admission.
